Commonly Asked Questions:

The flannel filter supplied was designed to fit this drip pot perfectly. Paper filters would be ill fitting and take away from the quality of the final product.

The flannel filters are reusable, ecofriendly and produce a better tasting cup of coffee.

It’s super easy. Just rinse and air dry. No soap or special cleansers needed.

The Hario drip pot is a pour over brewing device, so the same medium range grind that you would use in other pour over systems will work well with this one. The flannel filter is a very fine mesh, and it will hold up to a finer grind.

The thing to keep in mind is that grinds that are either too fine or too coarse aren’t suitable for pour over brewing. This pot can “handle” just about any grind, but those outside of medium range aren’t as likely to produce the best results.

Heat resistant, yes. Suitable for the stovetop, no. You can pour very hot, even boiling water into this pot, but placing it over direct heat on the stovetop can damage the unit or shorten its life.

We can’t see why not. We would recommend purchasing additional flannel filters and keeping ones designated for coffee brewing only.
